Action and Indications:

Prostration with impending collapse marked by cold limbs and faint pulse; diminished fuction of the spleed function of lung; thirst due to impairment od body fluid, of aiabetes caused by internal heat; general weakness with irritability and insomnia in chronic disease; impotence or frigidity; heart failure, cardiogenic shock.

Note:

Incompatible with lilu (Rhizoma Radix Veratri)

Recipes of Medicated Diet

1. Ginseng Decoction

[Ingredients]: 30g radix ginseng; 30g brown sugar

[Preparation]: Decoct the Ginseng slice in 100ml water for 30min. Extract the decoction and add brown sugar stir and drink.

[Effects and Indications]: Replenishing Yan qi, restoring yang and rescuing patient from collapse, nourshing blood and activating the circulation. It acts on puerperal metrorrhagia and fainting after delivery due to Yang qi deficiency and floating. It can build up body’s resistance to disease and promise longevity.

2. Hen Stewed with Ginseng

[Ingredients]: 1 hen or silkie; 3g Ginseng; 1 Chines onion; 3 pieces of ginger, 1 spoon of rice.

[Preparation]: Clean the hen or silkie with boiling water. Section Ginseng. Put all the ingredients to a pot, add suitable amount of water. Booil it over strong fire. When it is boiling, remove the foam onn the surface. Then simmer for 1 hour. Season and serve.

[Effects and Indications]: Nourshing Yuan qi. Weakness, anemia, cold feet and hands in winter.
